Smithfield student gets four-chair turn on “The Voice”

ISLE OF WIGHT COUNTY, Va. (WAVY) — NBC’s hit show “The Voice” returned Monday for the Season 6 premiere, featuring a young powerhouse vocalist from Isle of Wight.

During blind auditions, Smithfield High School student Bria Kelly was the last performer to take the stage Monday night, giving an electrifying cover of “Steamroller Blues.” She received a four-chair turn, and chose Usher as her mentor after all four judges fought for her to join their team.

“Ladies and gentlemen, we have just heard the voice,” Usher proclaimed after Kelly’s performance.

Even though her participation on“The Voice” is big, it isn’t the singer-songwriter’s first time in the spotlight. Back in 2012, Kelly was a contestant on “America’s Got Talent.” She’s also performed at Nashville’s Cadillac Ranch and CMA’s Music Fest.

You can follow Kelly on Twitter: @BriaKelly

You can watch “The Voice” on WAVY TV 10 at 8 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays.
